Registration and lottery

How can I register without a team captain?

There are no team captains, so you can do it all by yourself. Just click the registration button!

What is the difference between the fixed partner and lottery competitions?

In the fixed partner competition you will choose a partner through blind dating. You can not register with a partner beforehand, you may do so at Friday or Saturday evening at the festival. In the lottery competition, you will be randomly assigned a partner for each dance.

I want to dance both the fixed partner and the lottery competition for the same discipline. Can I?

No, you’ll have to choose which competition you’d prefer for each discipline. It is possible to dance fixed partner for one discipline and lottery for the other, though.

I’m not sure about a few things in my registration. Can I edit them later on?

You will receive a link to edit your information after you have registered. Please keep this link safe, as it is the only way you can access your registration form. You can edit your information until the day before the lottery. After you are selected by the lottery, you can’t make any adjustments.

Can I still go the the ETDS, even if I registered for EFDD?

There is no rule that prohibits you from attending both, so it's up to you. We aim to be so fantastic that you just don't feel the need to go to ETDSes anymore, though.

I have danced at ETDS/competitions in the Ice Age, is my dancing level sufficient for an EFDD?

Sure, there is no required entrance level. For the lottery per dance competition, make sure you can confidently dance all 5 dances with a randomly assigned partner.

I know someone who is really fun at dance parties but has not danced an ETDS before (and retired, so will never do so). Can I bring a friend?

No, sorry.. At this point, the EFDD is strictly for ETDS alumni. When the event can grow in the upcoming years, this might be possible and would be good fun!

How many participants will you allow in?

We have room for approximately 225 Dancing Dinos!

Are visitors allowed?/Can I come just for the parties?

Unfortunately not. We only have limited room and we want to keep sufficient space for all our dancers. Our capacity is maxed out with all regular participants. Sorry!

When is the lottery?

The first lottery round will take place on October 1st, followed by the second round on November 10th. We will conduct additional smaller lotteries if any spots become available afterward.

I don't meet the criteria... Can I still register?

You can contact the orga to discuss, but in most cases; no, sorry! We totally get it if you’re a bit disappointed that we’re sticking so closely to the criteria. The thing is, it's tough for us to predict how many true Dinos who meet the requirements will sign up. But here’s our plan: By filling out this form, you're letting us know you're interested in joining the EFDD. We'll add you to our list of super-enthusiastic Dinos. We'll get in touch if we end up with extra space, so you’ll be the first to know if there is a registration option for you after all!

Can i change my registration from lottery to fixed or vice versa?

If you are registered, but not selected, you can change that info via the link you have received after your registration. However, you cannot change that after you have been selected in the lottery.

Payment

What will this awesome weekend cost?

The participation fee is €85.

In addition, there will be costs for the hotel room and tourist tax. You will also need to cover the cost of your dinner on Sunday, which can vary depending on your choice (e.g., pizza for a lower cost or dining at a restaurant for a higher cost). WORTH IT!

What is the process for making the payment?

When you receive the lottery results, you will also receive information on how to complete your payment. You must make this payment within 10 days, or your registration will be forfeited. Make sure to include your name and registration number in the description. If you encounter any issues with the payment process, please contact the organizing team for assistance.

Sleeping/showering

Where can I find accommodation, as there will be no sleeping hall?

We have made reservations for the hotel at a crawling distance from the venue at a very reasonable price. If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please indicate your preference on your registration form.

If you prefer to stay elsewhere, you are welcome to arrange your own accommodation. Stay at a friend's place, your own Amsterdam condo, an Airbnb, another hotel... You'd have to arrange that yourself, though.

I want to book a hotel room via the organization, but I don't know with whom I want to share it.

If you want to share a room but would like us to assign (a) roommate(s), please indicate this on the form. We will inform you of your roommate soon after the lottery.

I have asked for a hotel room in my registration form. When will I hear about my roommate and

room type? We will make a room plan right after the lottery rounds and will let you know as soon as it's ready. We hope the process will be straightforward, and we’ll inform you right away once the lottery results are in. However, if the situation is more complex, it may take us a few days to get back to you.

Please note that we assume that you will indeed use the hotel room if you have indicated so for the number of nights you indicated. We cannot promise that we can process cancellations or alterations, as making the room plan truly is a puzzle.

I want to stay with a camper at the parking lot, is this allowed?

No, that is not allowed according to Dutch law.

Where are the mixed showers?

You can host your own private shower party in your hotel room!

Do I have to share my hotel room if I book it with you guys?

No, but the prices are based on sharing, so you'd have to pay twice the amount stated. Just let us know in the registration form that you want a room alone!

Workshops

What is the level of the workshops?

The teachers will ensure that the workshop levels are tailored to the participants' abilities, making them suitable for both beginners and advanced dancers.

Who are the teachers of the workshops?

The teachers are all seasoned ETDS veterans who are passionate about teaching their dancing styles. You may recognize our teachers from previous ETDS events.

Those dancing styles are not necessarily latin or ballroom... We offer a broad range of other styles to experiment with!

We assure you that they will provide valuable instruction and make your experience truly unforgettable.

Do I need a partner for the workshops?

No, partners will rotate throughout the workshops, much like some of you might be used to from social latin, or West Coast Swing events. You will dance with a lot of partners!

Do I need to sign up for the workshops?

At this point, we do not ask you to register for the workshops. Just show up and dance!

Adjudicator

I am an adjudicator. What do I need to bring?

Please bring your own phone, fully charged. We'll take care of the rest!

How can I register as an adjudicator?

In the registration form, please indicate if you are interested in serving as an adjudicator. You can also provide details about your license or credentials that qualify you for this role.

We will inform you as soon as possible after the second lottery round regarding whether we will be able to utilize your services. Please allow us some time to finalize the schedule and all necessary arrangements.

There is no possibility to adjudicate if you're not registered for the festival.

Can I dance AND be an adjudicator?

If you’re interested, you can certainly do so! There are two competitions each day, so you can adjudicate the one you're not dancing in. Alternatively, you can choose to adjudicate both competitions and not participate in the dancing. It's up to you!

Can I get a discount if I adjudicate?

Unfortunately, that's not possible. However, you can still enjoy the weekend just like everyone else! Your role as an adjudicator will be considered as part of your volunteering contribution when we create the volunteer schedule, so you won't be overburdened.

Do I have to register for the EFDD if I'm a workshop teacher?

Yes, please do so, so we can make sure to have space for you on the dance floor at the parties and you can get something to eat. You are also free to participate in the competitions or adjudicate if you like, you can also indicate that in the registration form.
